“As a business traveler, I’ve had the opportunity to stay in all sorts of accommodations, but nothing quite compares to the home-like atmosphere and personalized attention I experienced at the Ashford Inn. Patty and Mason are incredibly gracious hosts who go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The century home has a character and history you can’t find anywhere else. The beautiful backyard gardens are a wonderful place to relax after a long day. The rooms are spacious—larger than most hotel suites—and impeccably clean.

You never know who you’ll meet—I even had breakfast one morning with an Apollo 13 astronaut.

As a female business traveler who tends to travel solo, I try to find unique and comfortable bed & breakfasts as opposed to hotels. The Ashford Inn was recommended to me, and I had the pleasure of staying at the Inn during a recent business trip. This may be the best B & B I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Gorgeous property, inside and out, maintained to perfection, and a bed more comfortable than my own at home! The historic charm was a luxury compared to anywhere else I could have booked. Owners Patty & Mason were incredibly welcoming. Patty's breakfast and coffee literally made my day ! I highly recommend The Ashford Inn and I look forward to my next visit.

Great get-away spot, 7/07
My wife and I needed to be in Clinton for two days and did not want to make the hour long drive back and forth from Raleigh. We found the Ashford Inn online and decided to give it a try. What a treat. Patty and Mason were gracious, easy-going hosts and Patty's pumpkin pancakes were fabulous! They also steered us to a great local restaurant for dinner. What started as an overnight business trip turned into relaxing getaway for both of us. We're looking forward to our next visit.

This place was a wonderful find. It was a delightful place that one could stay at with great comfort and relax and enjoy a piece of America that has been forgotten. It was spotless, the furnishings were beautiful, the presentation and quality of the food was 5 star and the Innkeepers were terrific ! We advise you to make a reservation for their lunch or dinner if available, you won't regret it!

A highlight of this beautiful Bed & Breakfast in Clinton, N.C. is the delicious homemade breakfast that owners, Patty and Mason Tarr, make and serve in their happy, sunlit dining room. First, the portions are perfect. We walked away from the breakfast table feeling perfectly satisfied, but not overly stuffed. The two mini banana pecan pancakes, dusted with a touch of powdered sugar, were moist, light, and full of banana flavor.

The quiche, chock full of fresh asparagus, was a lovely savory accompaniment to our plates. And with a crust as buttery and flaky as that, it had to be homemade.

And finally, the bacon was cooked to perfection - crisp and still warm on our plates (this is "hog country" after all).

Next time you're passing through Clinton, N.C., be sure to check out the Ashford Inn. The Tarr's breakfast is a delicious and delightful meal indeed.
